But I'm 'just a mom.' What can I do?

Pray--such a simple, yet powerful, act.  Prayer recognizes our own inabilities to move mountains of evil and engages us in reaching up to the Creator of life to intervene and crumble stones that seem impassable.  No matter our schedule or challenges, we can unite as mothers upon our knees, pleading for the assistance of heaven to soften hearts toward children and motherhood.

Repent--an act of humility and acknowledgment of our own sinful or apathetic tendencies. We can unite as repentant mothers, recognizing that if we want to change the world, we must each first seek help in changing our own hearts.  When we discern our own rationalization and plead for cleansing through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we will judge men and women less and love them more.  This compassion will allow us to lead others to God's grace and the healing relief of broken hearts and contrite spirits.

Aware--As mothers, we can take time from the minutia that consume our hours and seek awareness of the issues that impact our neighborhoods, communities, states, and nations.  When we seek education regarding the complicated issues facing humanity, we will find empowerment to battle evil in ways that utilize our personal skill set, talents, resources, and gifts.  We will first work within our sphere of influence; then, we will be enabled to expand that sphere until as united mothers, we work to protect and preserve life throughout the world.

Yearn--Uniting in righteousness, mothers can lead by example on issues impacting life.  When we hunger and thirst after holiness, we will reject the offered societal platter of immorality, including immodest dress, debasing media, graphic music, degrading philosophies, and pop culture. Instead we will seek a diet rich in fruits of the spirit, such as "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith" (Galations 5:22).   Guided by the Holy Ghost, we can learn God's ways and nourish ourselves and future generations at the Lord's feast.

Engage--As we unite in action to nurture, nourish, promote and preserve life, mothers will become a powerful force for good in the world.  Every person has a unique set of experiences, skills, education, awareness, talents, and gifts to offer. Discover what you can do and DO something to promote life, love, and liberty for all of God's children.

Reach--So many wander without direction.  People choose easy paths of selfishness and darkness because they have no  guide or no knowledge of higher, life-sustaining paths. Reaching out to unwed/single mothers, overwhelmed or addicted mothers, or lonely and abandoned children in meaningful, loving ways may mean the difference between future choices of life or death.  Uniting as mothers in service and love to all mankind, we can "one-by-one" lift our culture of death to one where every life is valued.
